The following is a list of military discounts and events offered for Independence Day 2016. Please check back frequently as the list is updated.

Affinia Hotel Collection

From now through Labor Day, book your summertime stay at any Affinia hotel in NYC and receive up to 30% off and free Wi-Fi. Plus, they will donate $10 for every reservation made to Operation Homefront.

Blue Star Museums

Blue Star Museums is a partnership among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Joining Forces, MetLife Foundation and museums across the country. From Memorial Day (May 30, 2016) through Labor Day (September 5, 2016), thousands of museums, art centers, and exhibits are offering free admission to all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families.

*NEW* Brick House Tavern + Tap
Brick House Tavern + Tap honors active duty military and retired veterans with a free house cheeseburger on the July 4th holiday weekend.


July 2 through July 4, Carowinds offers free park admission  to all active, inactive or retired service members.

Cedar Point

All active, retired and honorably discharged members receive free admission, July 1-4, 2016. Immediate family members can also receive a military discount for $43 each.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is offering free admission and discounted Zoombezi Bay admission to military and their immediate family, July 2 through July 8, 2016.

Dorney Park

Dorney Park outside Allentown, Pennsylvania offers free regular admission to any active or retired military personnel July 2-4, 2016. Military members can also purchase discount admission tickets for members of their immediate family (maximum of six).


Funderland Amusement Park in Sacramento, CA is offering military members and their families a free day of rides on July 4, 2016.

Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park

Active duty military personnel get free admission to Gilroy Gardens in Gilroy, California July 2-4, 2016.


Through July 8, 2016, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC will expand their military discount programs for all U.S. military veterans and their spouses.

Home Depot

All veterans are eligible for Home Depot’s 10% military discount on July 4th with a DoD-issued ID, a DD214 or a Veterans Driver’s License.

King’s Dominion

The Kings Dominion amusement park in central Virginia is offering free admission for active, inactive or retired service members July 2-4, 2016.

King’s Island

Military members will receive free admission to King’s Island, an amusement and water park in Ohio July 2-4. They are also offering discounted tickets for up to six family members.


Lowe’s is offering their 10% military discount to military personnel in active, reserve or retired status, as well as veterans on July 4th.

Major League Baseball

Many major league baseball teams offer military discounts throughout the season. Some teams, like the Washington Nationals, are also celebrating military members on the 4th of July. Click here to see if your favorite team is offering a military discount.

Mystic Aquarium

Veterans and active duty members who visit Mystic Aquarium July 1 through 31 will receive free general admission. Dependent family members receive a discounted admission rate of $20.99 per adult, $15.99 per youth (13-17) and $13.99 per child (3-12).

Rack Room Shoes

Rack Room Shoes offers a 10% military discount off entire purchase with military ID on Independence Day.

*NEW* Red Robin

Throughout the month of July, military members who are signed up for the Red Robin Royalty rewards program get a 15% discount on their meals.


Valleyfair amusement park in Minnesota is offering free admission during their Military Appreciation Days July 1 through 4, 2016. Discounted tickets are available for immediate family members.

Worlds of Fun

Active duty, retired military, veterans and National Guard and Reserve receive complimentary admission to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City on July 4, 2016. Military personnel can also purchase discounted tickets for their immediate family.


Washington, D.C.

National Independence Day Parade

The National Independence Day Parade features marching bands, military and specialty units and patriotic floats. It’s a great start to a full day of Fourth of July events. The parade starts at 11:45 a.m. on Constitution Avenue and 7th Street.

A Capitol Fourth

“A Capitol Fourth” is a free, 90-minute concert and features the National Symphony Orchestra. The concert is held on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Gates open at 3 p.m., and the concert begins at 8 p.m. (The PBS program is broadcast live (8:00 p.m. ET). The majority of PBS stations replay “A Capitol Fourth” immediately after the show concludes. In most areas this is from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. EDT, but check local listings.)

National Archives

The National Archives, home of the original Declaration of Independence, kicks off their Fourth of July celebration at 10 a.m. with a ceremony that includes a presentation of colors, patriotic performances and a reading of the Declaration of Independence. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., family activities are scheduled, including appearances by Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and other historical figures.

National Mall Fireworks

One of the largest Independence Day fireworks display is held on the National Mall. Fireworks begin at 9:09 p.m. and last 17 1/2 minutes. Fireworks will be launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and will be visible from many locations in D.C. and Virginia.

New York

Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks

The 40th Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks returns with its 25-minute display fired from five barges on New York City’s East River. It will be broadcast on NBS at 8 pm EST. Click here for a list of performers.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place at the corner of Surf and Stillwell in Coney Island on July 4th. This year is the 100th anniversary!
