Disney-Student Veterans of America Scholarship

Through the Veterans’ Initiative, Heroes Work Here, The Walt Disney Company is committed to recognizing the hard work, dedication and loyalty it takes to serve our country honorably. To fulfill this committment, Heroes Work Here has continued to expand outreach, volunteer, and financial opportunities to support veterans’ education since it’s inception in 2012.

This spring, in partnership with Student Veterans of America, Heroes Work Here will award three (3) scholarships at $10,000 each to student veterans pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). The three scholarship awardees will also be guarenteed an interview for an internship with The Walt Disney Company!

To be considered for the Disney-SVA Scholarship, all required materials must be submitted and/or received no later than April 1, 2014, 11:59PM EST.

Eligibility

Eligible student veterans must meet the below outlined minimum criteria:

  • Be purusing a degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a designated STEM program
  • Be enrolled for the 2014/2015 academic year
  • Submit proof of military service (DD214)
  • Submit proof of enrollment in an accredited U.S. institution of higher education (transcript)
  • Submit one (1) letter of recommendation demonstrating service to others
  • Submit one (1) letter of recommendation demonstrating applicant’s committment to making a positive impact in the community
  • Submit one (1) essay in response to the below prompt

Essay

Please succinctly describe, in less than 500 words, your approach to personal achievement. In other words, how do you go about realizing your full potential? Please provide at least one example of a personal achievement.
